Curriculum

Skills of children

EFS curriculum uses multi-sensorial approach with a large focus on experiential and joyful learning. Based on a combination of world- renowned philosophy of Maria Montessori and high-quality contemporary teaching techniques that integrate Multiple Intelligence Theory, the curriculum is carefully researched and uniquely designed to optimize maximum learning.

It is primarily built upon the five pillars of development, comprising of Practical Life, Sensorial Activities, Language, Mathematics and Cultural Activities.

THE MONTESSORI WAY OF LEARNING

The widely popular Montessori Method of education, given by Dr. Maria Montessori, emphasizes on the values of human spirit and development of the whole child- physical, social, emotional, cognitive. The teacher, child, and environment at EFS create a learning triangle. EFS classrooms are beautifully crafted, learning conductive environments that offer children opportunities to develop their own capabilities. Each classroom is filled with developmentally appropriate activities that encourage children to interact with specific learning materials, as well as to work cooperatively with others. Children work with concrete materials that were scientifically designed, which provide them the keys to explore the world and develop basic cognitive abilities. The materials are designed to allow the child to recognize the error by him/herself and become responsible for his/her own learning.

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES

Focusing on the pluralistic nature of intelligence, Dr. Gardner’s MI theory integrates educational theories, teaching strategies and other pedagogic tools in meaningful and useful ways. It addresses the multiple intelligences of students and brings educational innovation to the curriculum. MI theory is used for curriculum development, planning instruction, selection of course activities and related assessment strategies to draw out the different ways of learning in children and the different intelligences that they use in their daily lives.

PLAY WAY METHOD OF LEARNING

EFS believes that learning should be fun and not forced. The play- way method is child-centric in approach where the medium of guided play in a friendly environment is incorporated without the burden of performance and evaluation. The play-way learning is more engaging than theoretical lessons as most of the learning is activity-based. Hands-on learning retains child’s interest, builds attention span and develops eagerness to play more. Learning by doing is a process of unfolding children’s innate powers through which their natural urges find spontaneous expression. The spirit of play imbibed in education helps children improve their motor skills, enhance their power of imagination, and creativity.

TECHNOLOGY FOR EDUCATION

EFS classrooms are technologically-advanced that enrich the learning experience of children. Technology and interactive media are powerful tools that support teachers in creating a more effective teaching environment. Text, moving image, animation, audio, video and video games augment the learning process, where children develop foundational skills in a number of important subjects. It allows space where children can actively experience learning together, expand their imagination, foster engagement and can be used to explore children’s talents and interests. We introduce children to offline coding through Cubetto and also have a Light Studio for them to learn through lights and shadows
